About the Event

"I am afraid that still, in America, we lack the understanding of the development of our country’s consciousness. We are projected to repeat ourselves tragedy after tragedy because we refuse to face our past and its hypocrisies."

- Excerpt from Chapter 2: The American Celebration-

How de we disguse ourselves to fit in with the status quo?  What is the cost of that disguise?

Cost of the Celebration  is the second of the four-part book launching event for Welcome to the Sick Mind of a Sane Person .   Grab your favorite beverage and join the author and friends as we discusses the elements of The American Celebration

The American Celebration seeks to define what makes a mind sick. This collection lends insight into how our willingness to disguise our sanity to fit the status quo contributes to the overwhelming theme of white supremacy.

About the author

Terry Lee Watson's first book, Welcome to the Sick Mind of a Sane Person, provides insight into what it takes to deal with the legacy of white supremacy as a conscious black mind in America.  The book, Welcome to the Sick Mind of a Sane Person is a collection of poems, short stories, and critical essays that provide deep, thought-provoking questions regarding how we sustain an oppressive structure in America.

Mr. Watson, the host of Moses' People Speak: Race, Conversations, and Law Enforcement, has been providing workshops on the topics of bias and discrimination, addressing generational trauma, and confronting racism for over twenty-five years. Over the years, Mr. Watson has encountered activists, reformed white supremacists, and allies who have shared their stories on how they see racism and what it takes to address it.
