Service Description

Targeted Audience: -Government/elected officials -Community partners & leaders -Educators -DEIB Professionals -Law Enforcement Professionals Description goals: This interactive workshop is designed to help participants plan, prepare, and access their departmental services and culture through the lens of disability equity and justice. This is a two-part workshop that uses the attitudes, skills, and knowledge model of engagement to challenge participants to build competency in communication and cultural proficiency within the disability justice framework (part one); and plan, prepare, engage, and access a template to create an action plan to serve and protect individuals with disabilities (part two). Learning objectives: By attending this portion of the workshop, participants will be able to hold internal conversations in order to... -Describe how attitudes impact the development of cultural proficiency around the topic of disability justice. -Identity at least one-way attitudes impact our skills and knowledge development in facilitating difficult dialogues around disability justice. By attending this portion of the workshop, participants will be able to plan, prepare, engage, and access in order to... -Develop an action plan for serving and protecting individuals with disability by looking through the lens of the 10 principles of disability justice. -Develop competencies to address cultural change within a department, municipality, or organization.
